What's the role of an FCA Leadership Board?
The role of the Leadership Board is to work with the FCA director and staff to increase capacity and expand the work of FCA in the Philadelphia region.
As we know, leaders lead. Therefore, Leadership Boards must always raise the leadership level for their local ministry.
Leadership Boards have no legal responsibility or authority. They serve as an advisory board, not a governance board. Their primary function is to provide local leadership in implementing the already established vision, mission and programs of FCA within ministry policies and guidelines. Board members will typically align with one or more committees providing their personal expertise to lead and solve committee related issues.
The longevity, stability and leadership of an area FCA ministry rests in the hands of a healthy, involved local Leadership Board. Their steady guidance, support, encouragement and involvement on the local level creates a strong foundation to build and sustain a ministry over decades.
This is a cooperative effort between the FCA staff and the Leadership Board. The FCA staff cannot get the job done on their own and the Board cannot get it done alone. They need each other, one empowering the other.
What are the qualifications of a board member?
To serve on an FCA board of any type, we ask for:
• Personal belief in and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• Intentional prayer support for the ministry.
• Commitment to further FCA’s Vision and Mission.
• Abide by FCA’s Values: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.
• Agree and embrace FCA’s Statement of Faith and position statements

Meet the experts behind our ministry
Thomas Roberts
Board Chair
Thomas Roberts is a sales leader, Army veteran, author, mentor, and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point whose career and personal journey reflect the power of leadership, resilience, authenticity, and connection.
A Cincinnati native, Thomas attended West Point, where he was a member of the Army Football team while also serving as President of the African American Student Union and Vice President of the Gospel Choir. His experiences as a cadet and student-athlete helped shape a leadership philosophy that would follow him from military service into a successful career in business.
Today, Thomas is a healthcare sales and business development leader with GE HealthCare, bringing together his experience in leadership, relationship building, strategic sales, and the healthcare industry. Throughout his career, he has remained passionate about developing others, mentoring emerging professionals, and helping people recognize the value of their individual experiences and perspectives.
Thomas is also the author of The Gospel of You: Start Telling Your Story, a deeply personal memoir that explores the peaks and valleys of his journey—from growing up in Cincinnati and the influence of his family, to Army Football and life at West Point, to discovering his own strengths as a leader and professional. Through honest and vulnerable storytelling, Thomas challenges readers to look beyond titles, accomplishments, and résumés and recognize that the experiences that shape us are often what allow us to connect most authentically with others.
At the center of Thomas's message is a simple but powerful idea: your story matters—and learning how to tell it can transform the way you lead, connect, and create opportunities for yourself and others.

Glynise is the Leader of Group Engagement at Thrivent Financial, where she directs outreach strategies to connect financial advisors, churches, local organizations, and community stakeholders. With a strong focus on relationship building, she drives growth and generosity, aligning her efforts with Thrivent's mission.
Holding a Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, Glynise is passionate about empowering underserved communities. Her work is rooted in her faith, reflecting Christian values through service and stewardship. She and her family live in the greater Philadelphia area, and enjoy sports, cooking and traveling.

Retired from Lockheed Martin as a Manager, Software and Systems Engineer spanning 29 years in various programs.

Enjoys travel with his wife Joanne and spending time with his 3 children and their significant others.
